Mark D. Sassak is an attorney and licensed architect, and a member of the law firm of Deneweth, Vittiglio & Sassak, P.C. in Troy, Michigan. He concentrates his legal practice in construction, fidelity and surety, commercial contract disputes, insurance disputes, real estate matters, and litigation of complex and technical disputes.

Mr. Sassak has counseled both public and private owners, developers, contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, material suppliers, sureties, architects, engineers, and other design professionals on all aspect of construction issues from project planning through bidding and construction. Mr. Sassak's legal practice specializes in all aspects of construction law including contract negotiation, drafting and review, architectural copyright, and construction liens, together with civil litigation and arbitration of disputes ranging from payment claims, change orders and claims for extra work to defect claims, errors and omissions claims, delays, differing and unforeseen site conditions, and disruption and acceleration claims to assisting with and responding to surety bond claims. Mr. Sassak has negotiated contracts for design and construction work in Michigan, throughout the United States, and abroad, and he has served as lead counsel in litigation on numerous construction projects including office buildings, convention facilities, road construction, underground water and sewer projects, industrial facilities, waste water treatment facilities, university projects, commercial facilities, and health care facilities. In addition, Mr. Sassak's legal practice is informed by his experience as an architect such as the design and construction of a variety new and renovation projects including commercial and office buildings, schools, day-care centers, churches and other religious facilities, medical facilities, and governmental facilities.

Mr. Sassak is a member of the Bars of the State of Michigan, the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the United States Court of Federal Claims, and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Sassak is also a licensed architect in the State of Michigan. He received Bachelor of Science and Master of Architecture degrees from the University of Michigan College of Architecture and Urban Planning and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan Law School. Mr. Sassak is a member of the American Bar Association, the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry, the Oakland County Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Association.
